The cost of a complete redesign varies, according to the size and complexity of your garden, and how significantly you want to change the layout. Prices for the smallest gardens start at £800.

Architects and associated professionals can also buy in this service for proposed schemes.

The Full Garden Transformation includes looking at both the hard landscaping (the built elements) and the soft landscaping (the planting).

Plans for each stage of the process enable you to see how the garden will look before it’s built, including 3D visuals if required.

This service follows the key stages as set out in the contract I use (JCLI Homeowner Consultancy Agreement):
 

• An initial visit to take a full garden design brief and understand how you want to use the garden in the future.


• A comprehensive measured survey of the space as it is currently.

• A full set of plans which enable the garden to be built to your specification by a landscaper.


• A list of plants based on your requirements, colour preferences and suited to your garden conditions. 


• A planting plan and schedule which specifies exactly how many plants, at what size and where they should be placed.


• Plant sourcing and installation (optional)


If your garden already has the structure and layout that you want, then this option is for you. Architects and landscapers can also buy in this service for proposed schemes. Prices start at £250.

My horticultural knowledge and qualifications mean I only specify plants that will suit your garden. For Thanet residents this means planting that thrives on chalk soils and can withstand salt laden gales.

Having a list of plants in advance also gives you the chance to know exactly how much the planting will cost and budget accordingly.

This service includes:

• An initial visit to assess any existing planting, garden conditions and to measure your planting beds.


• A list of plants based on your requirements, colour preferences and suited to your garden conditions. 


• A planting plan and schedule which specifies exactly how many plants and where they should be placed.

If you don't need a full garden transformation or planting plan, but you want an expert opinion to help you progress your project, I offer a consultancy and mentoring service. This is flexible according to your individual needs, but typically includes an analysis of your existing garden, and a written report with recommendations and options. This service costs £40 an hour with a minimum initial fee of £200.

Bringing a formal garden design perspective to your existing space will allow you to consider various possibilities and their implications before embarking on a redesign process. Some clients also value having a 'sounding board' which makes implementing changes feel a little less daunting.
